'Devorgilla Gallery Welcomes...' Exhibition
24th September 2011 - 8th October 2011
Devorgilla Gallery is thrilled to be welcoming a few new names to the gallery this autumn, and what better a way to celebrate their arrival than an exhibition showcasing the creations they have to offer.
Moy Mackay.
Moy is based in the Scottish Borders, working from WASPS Artists' Studios in Selkirk. Over the past few years, she has exhibited widely in solo exhibitions at prestigious venues throughout Scotland, as well as in London and the US. Moy's richly coloured works combine traditional felting techniques in a painterly way using merino tops. This organic medium gives her work extraordinary warmth & texture, and calls for a fine balance between spontaneity & control. The main inspiration for Moy's work is her surroundings in the rural heart of the beautiful Tweed Valley.
Kirsten Boston.
Kirsten's studio is located near North Berwick, where she also runs a framing business. At the same time of establishing the business, she pursued her life long passion for painting and began to exhibit at local galleries. She now exhibits in established galleries in Edinburgh & throughout the country. Kirsten works mainly in acrylics & watercolours and her love of local landscapes, especially the sea & skies, greatly influences her work.
Allison Young.
Allison lives in Edinburgh, working from WASPS Artists' Studios at Dalry. She mainly uses acrylic on canvas for her atmospheric & dramatic creations and is particularly inspired by East Lothian & Tiree, many of her paintings featuring these areas of Scotland. Allison returns to the same beaches time & time again and paints them in different weathers & seasons, enjoying how "the emptiness of the beaches reduces the landscape to sea, sand and sky".
