Jim McFarlane

The local Galloway landscape is Jim's main source of painting material. While out walking or sea angling he will take his watercolors & over "too many" years has amassed his sketches. He sits in fields & sketches Belties or black face sheep. When sea angling Jim sketches the rocks & the waves. From his mountain of watercolors he creates a "molehill of a painting" & tries to catch something of that storm of flight of geese, etc. Galloway street scenes, Kirkcudbright's boats, the Galloway Hills, the Corrick falling tides; Jim will sketch them then change them to capture his own interpretation. His watercolors that he will never sell are unusually big, loose & very expressive unlike many of the paintings that are for sale which are more controlled representational & informative.
