Nick Tweddle

Nick’s work unites the captivating beauty of the Scottish countryside, surrealist narratives and the absorbing detail of nature, swiftly bringing Ancient Celtic knotwork into a contemporary setting. The original pieces vary in technique and approach; some using precisely applied oils and others more fluid in ink and pencil. Nick's collection is deftly tied together by the artist’s imagination and vision ~ inherently Scottish yet never the traditional landscape.

Nick was an artist living in the Highlands of Scotland who was working on this unique body of work when he suddenly died last year. Nick was adept at using oil paints, but also loved to experiment with inks and pencil, and created many sculptures too. Much of his inspiration may have been in the beautiful intricacies of nature, his love of wife Chris, and a lifelong interest in surrealism.

Due to the personal nature of the paintings to Nick’s family, no original paintings are for sale. Instead Giclée prints are available of his work. A Giclée is a fine art print, produced on high quality acid-free watercolour paper, with an intense amount of detail. It is the highest quality print that can be produced with today’s technology, to best replicate the integrity of an original Nick Tweddle piece. Prints are available to order un-mounted, mounted and framed.

Giclée prints that are of this remarkable quality and detail require professional-level printing equipment, techniques, and materials. These prints are produced by Alder Arts, using only these superior resources. To ensure the value of the print, limited edition runs of only 150 are made, excluding enlargements where the edition is only 50. Each print is numbered, titled and signed by Chris, and is supplied with a signed provenance, stating the title, size, print date and the original paintings’ medium and dimensions.
